On-board Emission Monitoring – Vehicle Health Evaluation and Analysis for Diesel Powered Equipment
Vision: Build a world class sensing and communications platform for monitoring diesel equipment and ambient conditions using best-in-class technologies combined with advanced analytics to deliver reliable, actionable information in real-time to ensure safe working conditions, streamlined maintenance programs, reduced energy costs and increased production throughput.
Pattern Discovery Technologies Inc., Wireless Sensor Networks Inc.(WSN), and Draeger Safety Canada have been working collaboratively with the Centre for Excellence in Mining Innovation (CEMI) to complete the first phase testing and analysis of on-board diesel emissions monitoring for underground mining equipment. The technologies form the foundation of a platform for real-time monitoring of diesel emissions and the continuous evaluation of equipment health and operational efficiency. Not only will the system eliminate time consuming and inconsistent manual emissions testing procedures but it will streamline and improve maintenance management programs through use of predictive analytic technologies. It will also pave the way for challenging the prescriptive regulations for ventilation requirements (100cfm/bhp) in underground mines.
