Dr. Andrew K.C. Wong
Dr. Andrew K.C. Wong is a co-founder of Pattern Discovery and the principal innovator of the software intelligence model that drives our core technology.
He is currently a distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of Systems Design Engineering and the Founding Director of the Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence laboratory (PAMI Lab) at the University of Waterloo. He is a world-renowned expert in knowledge-based systems, computer vision, intelligent robotics and machine intelligence.
Dr. Wong is also one of the founders, president (1993-1996) and former chairman (1993-1997) of Virtek Vision International Corporation, a one-time publicly traded, Waterloo-based leader in laser vision technology that was acquired by Gerber Scientific in 2008. Prior to the acquisition, Virtek Vision was rated by ‘The Financial Post’ magazine as Canada’s 6th fastest growing high tech company in 1998. In 1999, it was ranked by Profit Magazine as the 4th fastest growing company in Canada.
Dr. Wong holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Hong Kong University.
